Module Overview: Common Fish of our Bay and Gulf In this module you will learn about some of the most common fish species that inhabit Galveston Bay and the shallow offshore waters of the Gulf of Mexico. These fish are representative of those most commonly seen and/or caught by anglers in our waters, and as a Nature Tourism Guide you will want to be familiar with them. Keep in mind, however, that they represent only one type of animal in the natural system that can be experienced in and around Galveston. It is important to understand the interactions and interdependency of all of the species, habitats and system components of our natural ecosystem that are covered in this course. And please keep in mind as you proceed through the module how human interaction with our ecosystem effects its overall health and future. As a Nature Tourism Guide, you have the ability to be a positive influence on the future of Galveston’s ecosystem. To find resources for additional information on these fish or others commonly found in our area, please see the section at the end of the module titled “Additional Resources.” Or click here. (include link) In order to receive credit for this module, you will need to complete the exam about this content.
